Embers exists to give you something. A reflection on a moment of awe. Any data is a by-product, and we keep it light.

What we store

• One small cookie, so the app can remember your progress through the steps. It isn’t used to track you.
• If you choose to build a profile, your email address and the moments you describe (your short story, the domain, and your ratings). Nothing more.

Why

To keep your growing profile in one place and, if you’ve agreed, to let us reach you about it. We don’t sell your data.

Who can see what

• Your email address is never shown to anyone else. Not to other visitors, not to the venues and events we work with.
• Ratings are pooled. We combine everyone’s scores into totals and averages — how a place or an event tends to move people. Nothing in that points back to you.
• Your story stays private unless you tick the box. When you write a moment there’s an option: “Allow others to read this, anonymously.” Leave it unticked and only you ever see the words.
• If you do tick it, your story may appear on this site alongside others, and can be read by whoever runs the exhibit, event or venue you were at. Always without your name or email.

Your choices

Change your mind, or want it all gone? You can ask us to delete everything at any time, no reason needed: delete my profile. This removes your email and every moment linked to it.
